Shielded hold-down clamps are designed for bench-top and machine-table "surface" clamping--for the welding class. The shield protects the screw from welding spatter. Rotates 360° around the holding bolt. When not in use the clamp slides off the bolt and the bolt drops below the surface leaving the work area clear of all obstructions. These clamps have a distinct advantage over conventional clamps and vises which function only near the edge of a workbench or table.
